Oct 4, 2020 "This is Halloween"
Shelly spent two full days decorating the house for October. According to Milo, "Mama made it Halloween". He keeps asking to "go to Halloween" so we took a walk around the neighborhood today to try to spot other Halloween decorations. So far only a couple houses have decorations but multiple people have come by to see our house and tell us it looks great. It's a very friendly neighborhood.
Ember snuck out recently and was MIA for 10 days. We sent a message out to the HOA and they emailed everyone in the neighborhood a picture of her. That day, we got a call from a family with a 7 year old son who had spotted Ember under a van around the corner from our house. Shelly caught a glimpse of her before she disappeared and we weren't able to find her. It was good to know she was ok and was nearby. Amma recommended we put her food out (in the bowl she was used to) and it did seem like someone was eating from it. Later, while Shelly was decorating she thought she heard Ember meowing.
Yesterday when I got home from the store, I saw a different cat outside near Ember's food (we'd seen her around a couple times). I pet her and asked her to show me where Ember was. She immediately started walking away and checked back to make sure I was following. I followed her around to the other side of our neighbor's house and walked into a dark alley between the two houses. I stopped about halfway down because I hadn't brought a flashlight but I heard a creature running off (I think she may have actually brought me to Ember!). Today, I looked out the back door and there was Ember in our backyard, I ran outside and brought her in! It's so nice to have her back!!
We had several neighbors contact us today to say they spotted a grey cat in the neighborhood, not Ember since she was home with us but so nice to know that we live in such a supportive and friendly area.
Lily is becoming so chatty, she repeats a lot of the words Milo says and can use some pretty good sentences like "no, not done yet" (playing outside) or "I have a book". Milo is still his crazy energetic self but is starting to be very sweet with Lily (like selecting toys she can play with and kissing her and telling her everything will be ok when she gets sad). He is also starting to try to interpret for her and I think he'll be pretty good at translating for her soon.
