Sept 17th, 2020 - "No it's not Halloween yet, it's also not your birthday"

Milo is acting very mature lately, able to listen and converse at a four-year old level part of the time which is good because he just turned four. It is so refreshing to ask him to listen and then have him respond back with an "ok" after I ask him something (we spent all of 3 with him ignoring most questions until the 5th-20th repetition). Also, he has been progressively calling us up to his bedroom after we've said good night more and more times before he goes to sleep. He insists he needs another toy or book or forgot a specific toy. So yesterday I told him (exactly 100 times) that he had to choose his books and toys to bring to bed before we went upstairs and anything he didn't bring I was not going go get for him later. We discussed thoroughly what he wanted to bring (a single book from the bookreader set Megan just got him and a monster truck) and what he didn't want to bring (the rest of the books that go with the bookreader and his new hot wheels track truck). Later he was sad and half-crying because now he wanted the track truck but I reminded him of what I had said and he calmed down pretty quickly and went to sleep without it. Honestly, I don't know if I was bluffing or not but I won! Tonight we had the same conversation and he didn't call us into his room once after story time and bedtime kiss! A new era or momentary blip before returning to his normal routine? Only time will tell.

Lily is getting really good at walking and has even been experimenting with running and jumping (though both look pretty similar to walking still at this point). She is using more words often to communicate and still loves naps and bedtime even asking for them by name when we don't get to them soon enough. She still clings to me when I'm in the room but has started saying "buh buh" when I leave for work instead of crying pitifully. Her favorite foods are grapes, smoothie and avocado toast and she will eat ravenously until she is stuffed to the gils. Lily enjoys mimicking Milo and being tickled.

  1. Such a beautiful family. Stay strong with the bedtime routine. I love the keepsake sweater. We are doing ok here in Aromas, all things considered. Staying home except for hikes when the air is good and trips to San Jose to visit (plus the grocery shopping and vet appointments) Do you have any pets? I forgot if you had a cat....We have 3 dogs and 1 cat and are our entertainment....
Stay well and enjoy your family,
    Love you,

    Aunt Toniann

    1. Love it! Hope your air quality improves and you can get outside as much as you'd like. We've got two indoor cats and it's fun watching Lily learn to interact with them. Though neither are very good at sitting on laps, they both love getting pets. Thanks for the update, feels like it's been forever since we connected!

  2. OMG!! How adorable is that!! Went through the same thing with Cody wanting more and more stuff (read: attention) after bedtime. Stick to your guns and it'll pass pretty quickly. She sort of looks like me in that heritage sweater. I think I tried it on a few of my baby dolls when it didn't fit me anymore.

    1. Wish we had a photo of you in the sweater to add to the collage!
